hello
I just purchased an algae scrubber at reefapalooza here in Orlando. It's made by Joy Olive of 302 aquatics I believe. I'll be putting it in this weekend hopefully. Any advise from people that utilizes them currently. Any good or bad experiences? Water parameter improvements?? Here's a pic
Thanks!!

I have a diy version. My main advice is always scrape the screen every 7-10 days or algae will grow in the tank.

I have an upflow scrubber I have been running for a year now. Starting a scrubber is like starting a new tank. It will go through cycles of different algae growth until it matures. Be patient with it and you will see results. I get a palm full of hair algae every week from my Hog .5

How about your nitrates ???

Yes nitrate will be zero too. If the balance between po4 and no3 is too much or limiting then po4 or no3 will be slightly higher. Inmy case no3 was lacking so po4 was .03-.11ppm. However now that i have a bb tank no3, and po4 are zero.

I like to keep my fish fat. That's why I got the scrubber to keep nitrates down.

What's the black part in the picture, I seen a part somewhere else not fish related and have intended use but what it's use in your algae scrubber unit?

Opps, never mind LED light fixture, good the part hasn't been shown on a thread or a build!
