Aquarium Algae Scrubber Filtration System

The algae scrubber is an advanced aquarium filtration system. When in operation, water is pumped to the inlet side of the lighted scrubber allowing algae to form on the removable grids.

The water returns to the source by way of the return piping.

From time to time the algae is harvested and discarded or fed to certain herbivore fish. The nutrients the algae collects are discarded as well.

When in operation and algae is forming, the show tank will not have near as much algae forming as the scrubber removes excess nutrients from the water.

The scrubber is typically placed above a refugium or sump that is located below or beside the show tank. Depending on your placement, the inlet and exit plumbing may need to be modified.

The plumbing and fittings are typical 1 inch white plastic tubing available everywhere.

As shown, the scrubber was placed above a refugium that were together housed in the cabinet below the show tank.

I will aid with your set-up once the sale is complete.

Price for everything, $150

What is included:

Scrubber with water deflectors, collector grids, a lift pump, dual LED Light fixtures, covers, plumbing to and from the water source and a comprehensive manual describing the set-up and operation.

The only item not included is the small plastic line from the pump to the inlet of the scrubber as the length will depend on your installation and location of the components. The plastic line is commonly available and inexpensive.

MMFI =marks marine fish inc ..out of business now .. The waterfall scrubbers which take up a lot less real estate ,and are an easy DIY project for some - put him out of business
That being said - the scrubber above is way more efficient than others out there now..look at how much surface area to grow algae there is - as compared to a waterfall scrubber like turbo aquatics or others..
