Hair or turf algae, it's not usually harmful, however it can overgrow and smother LPS coral if it goes unchecked. It's usually caused by high phosphates/nitrates and long light exposure. You can do various chemical treatments to remove it, however I wouldn't recommend doing it that way. They're are certain inverts/fish that will eat it, such as a sea hare and lawnmower blenny. Hope that helped!
I have aqua knight led I keep it on for 9 hours don’t really have a cycle, didn’t know I needed one, this is my first tankAgreed looks like hair algae. Get a picture under white light if possible.
What lights do you have and what is the schedule?
It just stays the same on at 11 o clock for 9 hours same intensity 8- blue, 4-whiteIs it on ramp up and ramp down I mean ? How long is it on full intensity?
Is it programmed or do you manually turn it on/off?I have aqua knight led I keep it on for 9 hours don’t really have a cycle, didn’t know I needed one, this is my first tank
Oh, forgot to mention, while it's not ideal, you can manually pull tuffs of the algae to control population, however getting algae eating inverts/fish is a better way to control it. Also, what are your phosphates/nitrates sitting at? If they're high than you'll want to do a water change and feed less. High nutrients is one of the most common reasons why algae grows out of controlI have aqua knight led I keep it on for 9 hours don’t really have a cycle, didn’t know I needed one, this is my first tank
It automatically turns on at 11 and off at &Is it programmed or do you manually turn it on/off?
