Hi I’m new to reefing and got my first corals 2 weeks ago I switched my light and have it on 9 hours a day but the algae is out of control what do I do?

What are your tank parameters & how old is it? Are you over feeding causing a nitrate spike?

Second, Your tank sounds new, it's going through it's phases. Yes, we need to know some insight on your parameters. But one thing you can do is get hands on and reduce your algae manually and get a sheet-ton of CUC.

algae is not an emergency. Can you share a tank pic? How old is the tank? What are the water parameters? How many fish do you have and how much do you feed? What type of lighting and flow do you have? We need more info on your tank....
