Quick, simple question. If i get 100 blue legged hermits crabs for my 100 gallon with tons of hair algea, would it be more effective then one of the following (for algea eating of course)

Tomini tang
Foxface rabbitfish
Lawnmower blenny

not in my opinion. I rate a foxface as >100 hermits for hair algae.

to clarify, I rate blue legged hermits as zero at eating my GHA. So anything that eats a little is better than 100 hermits that eat no GHA. :)

In my opinion the best, non fish, algae eaters are urchins. My tuxedo urchin is a champ.

Hermits are horrible and worthless.

If your tank is that covered in algea you will want to manually remove as much as possible, throw a blanket over the tank for 2-3 days, do a good water change and then add snails. I recommend trocus (black foot) as they will reproduce to maintain a population needed that matches the food levels.

As for the fish any of those will work great. Im not a fan of foxfaces, but the tomini and lawnmowers are FANTASTIC algae eaters.
