Can anyone ID what's growing on my torch? It looks like snot/mucus it is pasty white and growing like a spider web. Is it a problem, are there remedies?

I'm no way an expert. To me you have either algae or a sponge. In any case, you DO NOT want either growing on you're coral base. I would remove that coral from tank and clean it off with a tooth brush. You do not want pieces floating around in you're tank.

Honestly I’m not sure. It looks a bit more filamentous than I would expect for a sponge. I think @sacutshall is right. Pull it from the tank, scrape it with a toothbrush, rinse it with tank water, put it back in your tank and hope for the best.

maybe others will chime in.
