AliExpress A8SE Reef Light

I have 3 A8 Pro II Blue lights being delivered today. With mounts and after fees it was $1,126.34 ordered on March 18th.

Was there a video somewhere in this thread showing how to add thermal paste or where to add it?
Which site and vendor did you buy them from? They are $537.57 each on Aliexpress, BreezAqua store.

Whats the difference between the different versions?
there seems to be multiple versions at substantially different prices.

A8se II Max has Chinese brand LEDs, and its LED array is similar to Radion X30 G5 pro. It is also 8-channel controlled.

A8s has CREE LEDs, and its LED array is similar to Radion X30 G5 pro. It is also 6-channel controlled.

A8 Pro II Max has CREE LEDs, and its LED array is similar to Radion X30 G6 pro. It is 8-channel controlled.

The mounting arm will work on a rimmed tank. I have a 2nd light coming as I write this. I have the A8 SE Gen 2 145 watt light. Love it. My SPS have taken off with growth. I paired it with 2 Kessil A360s for the shimmer. The app was an issue but after I got a 2.4 modem I had no issues. My 2nd light is going over a 25 gallon Innovative marine lagoon and should be plenty of light. I like Ecotech but these A8 lights I will use for now on.

video would be highly appreciated, looking to add a360 clone on the same arm for some shimmer...

Anyone have an honest opinion of the se china version vs the pro with the cree leds? Is the pro worth $125 more to gain the cree leds and 8 channel control? Im selling a big pack of zoas and am considering taking that money for new lights. Sorry for asking but Ive read through 25 pages of the 72 so far and am considering ordering before any of this tariff stuff affects the pricing on these.
thanks
Jeff

I went with the basic version and it’s amazing. I’m one to usually buy the pro version of everything but after reading many reviews I found the A8SE to be the best option. I would go with the regular one and maybe upgrade the driver from mouser later down the line. Who knows if the chips are actually Cree. Also some people complain about too much spread from the radion G6 and the pro has the same diffuser.

Quick update for those that read my previous post about my light turning off daily. It was a bad esp32 chip on the board. After a few messages with the seller aquabreeze I was sent a new board free of charge and replacing it solved my issue. The light has been running perfectly ever since.

for those that are looking to buy a light aquabreeze lowered the cost back to the original price. I purchased a second today for $185. Get them while you can.

I ordered 2 yesterday morning. I hope they ship soon, I believe May 9 is the sub-$800 tariff date. How long did it take your orders to ship once you placed the order m.

@woowoodengy when you mention buying a different driver are you meaning the power supply? I noticed the cheaper ones are rated at 215 watt vs the pro being 240. Is that because of the power supply not being as strong?
Jeff

yea they have a meanwell driver upgrade you can ask for. I did that with my first light but the light that came in today i went with the standard PS since I think they are out of stock of the meanwell. Plus I will probably only be using about 60w each with 2 of those over a 40breeder

I can't imagine anyone is running over 200 watts. You would have to run at like 5 k color temp. Lots of people mad the blues, who maxed red, green, and both white?

Still no one notices the flashing when it ramps up and down? Or idk maybe luck that you guys dont get those that flashes

mine does it but its soo subtle unless your starring at it at that exact time you would never notice it. Honestly I dont even notice it anymore even when looking at the tank because I am so use to it

I got my 2nd light lastnight and pasted it and added it to my setup and it was another easy setup and added super quick and its ready to go for when I setup the bigger tank in the next few days
