Dose Alk and cal and have the tubes dumping in the sump over a very small powerhead in the water to mix everything when it drips ( good tip from BRS). The surface of the water it drips into is relatively calm so no splashing but I get 1 inch or so icicles hanging from the Alk outlet tube. I have to break it off every other day. Any way to avoid this? I was dumb and broke the icicle off right before I took this picture so you have to use your imagination but it’s where the arrow is

The same thing happens to me. I just remove it weekly. I also squeeze the end of the tube to make sure the plug isn't inside of the tube (I've had that happen as well).

Look and see when you shut off your return pump if your tubing gets submerged. if it does, just try and move it up some so this doesn't happen and it should help with the crud build up.

I put a “T” fitting a few inches from the end on the Alk line so I run my top off through the same line. This completely eliminated the issue for me.
WOW awesome idea! Definitely going to steal this one as I find myself every week during maintenance day squeezing the tube to make sure the stalactite isn't blocking the end of the hose.
