Hey all,
Watching my alk level over the past few days(really it's been about a week or 2) my alk has steadily increased.

My nitrates have been super high, pinging my hannah a couple times a few weeks back. I haven't actually gotten a chance to manually test my nitrates in a bit, maybe 2 weeks ago I had a test read under the 75 max out.

Could this alk increase im seeing be a result of the nitrates decreasing steadily?

Probably going to get back into my water changes regiment to try and keep that alk level down. And I'll get a nitrate reading when I get out of work today. I should probably manually test the alk to, to be sure my trident in correct. It has been the past few times I checked.

Calcium level ?

That rise is small and could be a variety of things, including a nitrate decline.

Are you currently dosing?

Microbacter7 every couple of days(when I remember)
My chaeto has really starting pumping in my huge also.
Was down at 8.6 dkh or so back in October

404

So no alk dosing? I’m trying to understand the swings too.

6am reading vs 9pm reading

I hadn't alk dosed in a while.
Tank was neglected for a bit...then when I started plugging away at cleaning it up I got dinos and hadn't done water changes in a bit. Bringing the Nitrates down was my top priority until I ended up getting dinos while i was on vacation...been slowly working at them again since my tank cleared up.

I don’t see a rationale for the daily up and down except an artifact in testing due to pH changes.

I’d just keep watching the alk. The slow rise can be from many things, including slow dissolution of rock and sand, declining nitrate, top off tap water, etc.

It's been a pretty consistent trend with my trident. Maybe something is wrong with it.
I'll try and do manual tests at the same time next day off i have

Here is my ph vs alk
