Hello Everyone,

Just bought a Salifer alk test kit and tested my new tank for the first time. Its a 60 gallons tank and usually I would change 12 gallons each week using Reef Crystal salts. Anyway, I haven't dose anything at all except weekly water changes and the alk is 9.9. Is this possible or something is wrong with the test kit? I just bought the test kit as well. Normally I would assume that the Alk would be lower since I haven't dose anything?

What’s your salinity? Reef crystals has super high Alk from the get go.

This is normal for reef crystals. I would test fresh mixed water to confirm.

My salinity is usually at 1.025? I always keep it around that but admittedly I haven't calibrate my salinity meter for years.. so it might not be all that accurate. I guess I won't have to dose anything for now but just changing water and add some sps
