I am trying to figure out if my Kh Carer is accurate vs my Hanna checker. According to red sea my batch is 8.148 DKH at 35.5 ppt of salinity. Could I make a cup of mix water at 35.5 and test results and calibrate from that? Is there a more accurate way to determine which value is closest?

I personally wouldn’t trust the salt manufacturer data.

I check my alkatronic vs Hanna monthly. If I mix my alkatronic reagent correctly, they are within a few tenths dKH. That’s close enough for me.

What do you get when compare your KH carer vs Hanna?

Well my Hanna was showing 8.38 and Kh Carer was showing 7.06. I just got my ATI results back and seems my Kh Carer is correct.

ATI shows 7.09

A Salifert test is useful for being the arbiter in situations like this.

If you don't have that, try a new bottle of Hanna reagent.

Hanna alk egg only works well with recently opened reagents. There have been discussions on refrigerating the reagent to prolong the accurate life span. I don’t use my Hanna alk egg anymore and use a cheap salifert test to compare to my auto testers. For me salifert reads about .2 dkh lower than my Alkatronic and kh keeper.
