Alkalinity Drops in Batch of Water

Hi i have been testing my salt mix and my Alkalinity is low on the Mix.

I have a 150 gallon Reservoir where I mix my RODI with, Aquavitro Slainity. Main issue is that after a period of 24 hours mix it will drop to 6DKH also Cacium drops considerably.

This week I was trying a new batch of water with Different Salt , This time Brightwell Neo Marine, same thing happened. After a Period Of 24 hours it went from 8.5 to 6.8 DKH using a Hanna Checker.

Could the Low PH on my RODI water be causing this? I believe My RODI water PH was somewhere around mid 6 PH .

I was also having Rapid depletion of DI, I was suggested that it might be High CO2 on my tap water.

Could this be the reason im getting rappid consumption of Alk on my Salt mix?

Any suggestions on what to check?

The alk in the salt that is mixing for a long period is precipitating. Its normal and happens to everyone

Mixing in 24 hour sor less.

2 different brands of salt.

I've had the same problem. I wouldn't let your mix sit, try to use it right away.

Drops in alkalinity and calcium in new salt water may be due to:

1. Settling of fine particles of calcium carbonate. If still in the water, they get falsely counted as available alkalinity and calcium.
2. New precipitation of calcium carbonate. Keeping the pH and temp down in the new water reduces this precipitation.
