Hi everyone.
I have been thinking lately about changing my t5 combo to incorporate only blue t5 tubes.
At the moment I use 5 B+, 2 P+, and 1 C+.
I was thinking of running 6 B+ and 2 True actinics. Along with the 2 reefbrite xho strips on the t5s.
I was wondering on your opinions how the sps corals would respond to this. I mostly care for their color, and not to much about their growth rate.
Please post your opinions and experience if you have tried this.
Thanks

I think you'll be fine for around an 18" tank for SPS with that setup, deeper than that and you may not get much response from them.

I think going all blue will actually give the poorest colors but your growth will be about the same. A lot of acropora don't have as vibrant of fluorescent colors and have better reflective colors, seen best under whiter light

I would agree with @Bpb . If youre looking for colors from SPS then you will need to incorporate some "white" bulbs in order to bring out the yellows, reds, and greens. I personally like to run as close to 50/50 on my Blue to white ratio with T5. I have found this combo to produce the best and most natural coloration is SPS corals, as well as great growth.

Thanks for the information. I had heard something about a top vendor using only blue bulbs and was curious to see if I could pull the colors he was getting from his corals.
