how’s it going my reefing community? Using all four reef and my 55 gallon tank. I finally got my parameter stable 8.2alkalinity calcium 460. last night my alkalinity was at 8.1 10 hours later my alkalinity is at 7.1 how much all for reef do I need to get it back to 8.2 ml? I use the tropic calculator, but I don’t understand it.

My first question is, how old is your system and how heavily stocked is it. Also a FTS will help

All for Reef is not a good choice if just your alkalinity is low since it will also raise the calcium and magnesium levels. It is meant to maintain your levels, not adjust them.

You can use a product just to raise alkalinity to where you want it, and then adjust the All For Reef dosing for what is needed to maintain your levels.

You can use any of the name brand liquids to do this.
Here is a good calculator to figure out how much you need to add by brand name.

Most of these products will cause a significant increase on pH, so only dose small amounts slowly into a high flow area.

System has been running for one year SPS dominant have some LPS as well fully stocked up I’ve been using two part dosing. I’m going to start using. all for reef

I started splitting it up into two doses and eventually put it on a dosing pump. There’s a 3 day lag in your dkh after initial dosing. Do you know your current dkh consumption in 24 hrs?

My system is currently using 32ml AFR daily. 3.8ml should raise your dkh .1.

That would mean your consumption is .9 kh per day
I’m dosing 40ml and my consumption is .5

How long were your parameters stable?

A full 1 point drop of dKH in 10 hours seems very unlikely unless something else changed. Medium size water change with much lower alk salt or something like that.
