Can anyone riddle me this?
I'm looking to shave some money off my monthly reef keeping stipend.
Can I use the quilting pad or polyester fill for pillows etc at Wal-Mart from the fabric dept?

Great idea. They fill is polyester fiber. Just read carefully to make sure the Walmart stuff is not tread with any antibacterial or other stuff. On,y other thing I could think of is size of fill. If fibers are too small may be issue

Otherwise great idea

Just picked up another bag from Walmart today, only $3.50. I actually like it better then filter pads. I find the filter pads make my skimmer go crazy.

Way better than the 3.99$ for 4 oz you get at PetSmart

Any additive, it says hypoallergenic

Exactly what I was looking at. I was also looking at the quilting pad from the same company. Way cheaper than even BRS. Every penny counts when you're laid off from work.

I'm such a cheap ******* that I have cut up worn out outdoor furniture cushions for filter material. This spring I'll probably make a filter for my fish pond with them. In this hobby we can take relatively simple concepts, like a sump, and make them really expensive.

That’s strange, it doesn’t seem to bother mine but it’s only a nano skimmer

Now I'm having a heck of a time tuning the skimmer again. It's a Somatic 60. I almost feel like I really never had it perfect. When it skims I get wicked thick sludge. But not much liquid in the cup. If I try to get wet skim mate. Anything and everything seems to make the skimmer explode.

I hated my skimmer. New frag plug? Overflows. Epoxy or glue a coral in place? Overflows. Tuesday? Overflows. Looked at the tank wrong? Overflows.
