Hi reefers .
So i picked up this pinkish frag of alveopora since my mom liked the coloration that much in the store .

I dind know it even was alveopora until the salesman told me so .

Id notice no long polyps , once asked about i got the answer that its new in the system so could be of stress ...

What do you guys think ? Are there types of alveopora that just stay this short or can it change during some period of acclimation in my system ?

Thanks in advance

Yes, some types are short stemmed, some are medium length stem, and others are longer. That one looks like it could be a short or medium length to me.

By the way, the only difference between alveo and goni is the number of petals on the polyps. Alveo has 12 petals, and goni has 24 petals. I can't see clearly but I think that is a goni. But you'll be able to see clearly

is there any evidence of manipulating them to be longer or that is just not possible ?
Would take days to weeks to months to never for it to extend. Really a lot of variables. Pick a spot and leave it and see what happens. They don’t like to be moved around. Could come out in a few days. Could be a few months. Or anywhere in between. Could be short stem. Could be long stem. We don’t know

If it’s alive…be happy lol and patient

Could you get a better, possibly non-potato-quality photo of it, possibly under whites please?

Mojo nailed it, from what i can see in the photo, that is not Alveopora, that is a goni. It has too many petals to be alveopora. Alveopora flowers are very defined and petals rarely cross over like a goni and are easier to count. Imo they are easier to take care of than a goni as well.
