over the past couple days, I received a Alveopora frag. it has since opened up and and looks like the polyps hang rather close to the base, although far enough to see movement.
the photos I see online of them, show long tentacles that sway in the flow. my frag is only 1" in diameter, or close to. if I don't have the longer tentacles, is that due to frag size or too much flow? anything to be concerned with? its only been two days, but, still concerned. don't wanna lose coral

A picture would help, but they come in all sorts of lengths, I have 7 goni's they are all different lengths. The one you describe might be bernardpora, basically the same as goni's and alveo's, but they are the shortest stem version.

Yes its an alveo, it looks similar to one that I've had before, I don't think the stems will not get any longer than an inch on that one. It looks good and healthy

coming back to this. within the last few days, I noticed the Alveopora starting to "shrink or tighten up". he's not as plump and happy as he seemed to be since I got him about 2 months ago.
My tank parameters/light/flow haven't changed at all. what would cause them to decline in health?

it's not getting blasted with flow, but enough that it's wavy. certainly not getting blown horizontally.

I assume if it was getting too little light, the branches would be extending upwards to get more light. But that's not the case. it's in roughly 100par of light.

I did start feeding with reef chili the other day, but not sure if that's doing anything. I've only done it once. was gonna feed again tomorrow. I was broadcast feeding. (The trumpet coral loved that!!)

My parameters have not changed. They seem to be pretty stable.
Here's where they are currently at. Never really change much from bi-weekly testing.

ALK - 9.0
CAL - 450
MAG - 1200
PH - 8.2
PHOS - .25 - .50
NITRATE - 16.2

here's a picture.
my clove polyps seem to be shrinking too. same flow and light as the alveos (got them both at the same time)

I got a couple other corals at the same time, so i'll keep an eye on those.

blues are off but I couldn't get a crisp photo

It's just the lighting. The coral has always been white. It's white and once fluffy. It being white is one of the reasons I wanted it. But the off white is just the lighting/shadows. It's completely white

Comparing the two pictures it looks to me like the coral has lost a lot of brown color within the polyp that used to be there before. My guess is the light was not sufficient.
