140 gal system with a major amount of sps colonies all growing well,,,presently dosing 180ml of alk and calcium per day and my hanna is still showing 7.8......dosing magnesium keeping it around 1300
thinking of changing to a calcium reactor which i already have.

From what i've seen it does seem high, maybe it's precipitating out?

I think that a calcium reactor is much more preferred over dosing with any substantial demand for dosing. It should save you money and time [once it's dialed in]. And especially if you already have it i'd switch over to the reactor. Different alk/ca products are sold in different concentrations. It could be that you're dosing a less potent mixture than others, or you've just been [blessed?] with substantial growth?

Depends on what you are dosing. Assuming it is my DIY Recipe 1 (as BRS sells), it is not a lot. 1.8 dKH per day.

Even a soft coral tank can use that much if it has good coralline growth.

I'm using the BRS 2 part system and have about 130gal system. I dose about 167ml of Soda Ash solution to keep about 9-9.5 DKH ALK daily. I dose about 106ml of the Calcium solution daily to keep around 400 ppm Calc. Seems like you are in the ballpark to me.
