Hi All, I am dealing with some Phosphates and wanted to make sure I’m feeding properly! Here is the run down.

2- 6” Tang
2- 3” Tangs
Couple Clowns Adult pair
Couple Anthia 2”
5 Chromis 2”
Royal Gramma
Lawnmower Blenny
Melanurus Wrasse 3”

I was feeding 6 Hikari cubes and 1/2 sheet Nori daily. All food was eaten and gone in probably 30 seconds or so.
Am I over feeding?

If the food is being eaten in 30 seconds then no, not overfeeding.
I would rinse the hikari cubes in tank water twice before feeding myself.
The cubes are notorious for increased phosphates when not rinsed.

My Po4 was 4. Yes 4 lol. Nitrates were over 160. (Took the tank over, new sand etc etc)
Now Nitrate is close to 20. Po4 is around .1. My Po4 climbs about .1 every day. I used Phosphat-e to lower it and am trying to keep it more stable.
I haven’t seen I’ll effects yet but slow coral growth could be possible and as a new reefer I just don’t know.
Thanks for the compliment!

4 is.....horrible lol.
.1 is much better but still high.
All things equal, ive had much better success running reefs with nutrients closer to undetectable :)

That’s what I’m shooting for!
I’d like them in the .04 range and if I was over feeding them that could help with the daily Po4 rise. I thought it was from my rock which some of it could be. The tank I took over was very neglected.

This was just before I took it over. I used half of that gnarly live rock so I thought the Po4 might’ve been leeching out of it. I used the covered and buried rock to trying to not bring the Aiptasia in the new setup. Oh the fun of a learning curve haha
