I have dosed Cupramine in my hospital tank and now I am reading 0.4 NH4 and I do not have any water ready.

Can I dose AmGuard or StressCoat?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Water change at this point.

Those items will drop your copper as well as the ammonia.

Prime is toxic when mixed with cuppermine so dont do that lol

You can try nite out 2 but it doesnt do much. I still did water changes every 4 days as it rose up. After about day14 it hit a solid .02 ammonia and stays with the copper at therapeutic levels. I am on day 28....2 left lol

Are you using an ammonia badge? I was under the impression that cupramine throws off ammonia test kits.

+1 to this and the ammonia badge shows the color at .02 that's where mine has stayed. I know people say get it to 0 but I'm treating with meds and cuppermine and it has to stay for 72 hrs at a time ;)

Yes. The Ammonia badge says .05 but my Red Sea Ammonia says .4.

This does not make sense to me. I soaked media in my tank and used water from a water change in my tank.

Are the fish stressing? .05 on the badge is nothing to worry about. Here is a pic of mine in a heavily medicated tank as you can tell from the tank walls. The fish had uch, velvet and flukes as well as an unidentified worm that Humblefish said to treat with GC.

If fish are eating and not stressed them dont stress yourself too hard.

I am doing a water change tonight after the 72 hrs of meds are up but this should give you an idea with my badge. As you can see it is between .05 and .2 and this is 3 days in meds and copper.

These badges are weird and mine could be defective but my amonia reads .2 on tests so I'm not worried during this process. The fish eat and are way better than they were. I might not be doing it as others but it's working and I'm trying to follow Humblefishs advice as best given my sotuation.

Remember to use a flashlight behind it. It will look to be a different color with indirect light.
