That would explain why. API test kit usually will show some ammonia on the test. Personally, I would trash the test kit and get Salifert or Red Sea (Hanna is also a good option).the API saltwater master test kit

thank you so muchThere is nothing wrong with a small amount of ammonia (0.5 ppm or less), whether real or test error. Many of us dose ammonia (I do).
I'd stop testing for it since there's nothing one should do about it.
