Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here had a success having an eel in a reef tank. I know some of them will eat small fish and Shrimps. But some like the ghost Eel I heard its safe to keep it in a reef. Does anyone here have an Eel in a reef?
Thanks

Mostly depends on type. Some will take out smaller fish and possibly some cuc. Tight lids will be needed as well making sure not to block lighting performance for corals.

I have a mesh lid already due it to my wrasses jumping. Im just afraid it would disturb the piece.

Usually if you keep them well fed you have less issues but you will be limited in cuc members and as an ambush predator small fish could always be on the menu

Another problem too I was thinking is, they are more active during night. How about the fishes that sleeps between the gaps of the rocks?

The only problem I have is that my tangs are not so nice to it. Whenever he comes out they make threatening gestures to it and try to steal the food when I feed.....otherwise they are very cool

I had a golden dwarf moray in my reef for quite some time. He was in there with clowns, a mandarin and cleaner shrimp. No issues because they stay very small.

Do you think the moray would have eaten sexy shrimp (I have a pair)

All my wrasses and firefish sleep with mine. When I get home I'll post a vid or look under the predator forum and look 4 the chainlink thread.
