Today I am hoping to figure out a way to add this piece of liverock

(pictured below)

to my aquarium WITHOUT the light green algae covering it.
Now as you can see there is still corral he encrusted algae deposits all over it. I want to keep that but not the green stuff.
I am not interested in soaking it in bleach or boiling it as I want to keep and hopefully culture all the biological benefits it has to offer my tank.
I have it stored in a 10 gallon container at the moment.

Here are two ideas I have/what do YOU think.....

Idea no.1: Treat it with isoprophyl?

Idea no. 2: Use my phosban reactor to suck the algaes phosphates etc out of this containers water?

If you bleach it, it will kill everything on it and turn it mostly white.
When I say mostly white, I have had a few pieces not turn stark white.

The only thing I can think of that MIGHT take off the green algae without killing the rest is to wire brush it, in some tank water.
Then rinse it in tank water after.

You could try dipping it in hydrogen peroxide.

Hi mfnn, Wire brushing is probably the safest...thanks for the idea.

Hi SeahorseKeeper, if I use isoprophyll in my tank (14) gallon) And I follow the directions in the sticky thread posted here do you think it will work?
Thanks and Happy New year !
