I got a pair of anemone crabs from my LFS yesterday. One has been very active in terms of filtering the water and feeding.

I didn’t realized until I got home but the other one is missing a claw, and hasn’t been nearly as active in feeding.

You can kind of see in this picture, the one on the right is missing its left claw.

Is there anything specific I should do to help get it to eat? I tried directly handing it food and the I juried crab wouldn’t accept but the other one took it and starting eating right away.

Do you think it isn’t feeding at prevalently because it’s missing one of its claws?

No, i have multiple anemone crabs and one was missing a claw due to a fight with another. It grew back just fine in a month or so. Yours are still new so probably adjusting still

Keep eye out for aggression, if they are not true pair they can and will fight

I haven’t see one actively attacking the other but it definitely seems like there is some sort of superiority of one over the other.

Both are actively filter feeding but the one with one claw is always hiding up under the anemone while the other one is feeding out in the open
