I have had this anemone for about 2 weeks. As soon as I got it, it set its foot deep into the sand where it met a rock and stayed put until today.

It is light green/blue but not white. I do not think its having any issues with bleaching. I just think its a pale and very light color. I target fed it twice in the two week period and it filter fed reef roids or reef chili periodically. It has always stayed open without any issues.

Today, i came in and noticed that it has moved considerably in the 200g tank. Fortunately, it did not move into the power heads.
I've been researching into the type of anemone this is but I'm just not sure. I'm hoping that by figuring out what kind of anemone it is, that I can help figure out what it likes / needs.

Its foot is very red and rigid along the bottom portion. Its tentacles are very very sticky. More than others Ive been in contact with. Its tips are a lighter/paler shade of green/blue than the tentacles themselves. It has "flat" areas in its body that have no tentacles and the tentacles seem to be only along the edge. Unlike a BTA which has the tentacles pretty evenly spaced across its body. It is about 6 inches across.

I have one other anemone in the tank - a rose bta which is set and looking great. The one that is moving did edge close to the BTA and i'm wondering if it got close and freaked.

Here are a couple pics. pardon cell phone pic. I can get better later.

It was sold as a "long tentacle" ... I didn't realize that was a name. thank you.

Like I said, it is a greenish blue ... it never appeared white to me but admittedly I'm not familiar.

@Amoo assume it is bleached please and tell me what I can do to get this guy healthy. Any suggestions at this point to get it to settle?

Bleached Nems are a little tougher then just a regular Nem because sometimes they bleached because of too much light, other times too little. As a result, quick introduction of too much light or what would otherwise be normal light ie around 200 PAR and up can sometimes be harmful.

Is the Nem in your 200G office tank you have linked? If so give me a few to go through your build thread and pick out pertinent info and I can get back to you with suggestions. If you have a PAR meter I can avoid that, if not I'll need to dig into your lights and flow to give some ideas.

Just checked PAR - it is 100 on one side near where the sand is and up to 150 on the other side near the top of the anemone

flow is here. - Left WAV is mirrored - reef crest type with small blowout periods

Lighting is as follows:

Bulbs are 4 B+, 2 C+ and 2 Act = leds are primarily blue until maxed with a little red

I really should update my build thread :(

Also, I forgot to mention, I changed out 4 bulbs to new ones last Thursday. If it upped any PAR, it wasn't much. And it's been nearly a week since the nem started moving until today. It's last direct feeding was Sunday.

Neptune WAV's were added back in May probably. I took out the Stream3s from Tunze because I couldn't figure out a good way to keep track/control the flow. the WAV's are nice in that regard.

Is he planted and stable again or still moving? Also did he move from the low light side to the high light side after the bulb change?

I know you have lots of softies on the bed, any chance of sweepers reaching him where he was?

He's not planted. He is just sitting on the sand bed. he's still open (nearly full) so i turned off the power head that's near him on the left back wall. That's a concern since I dont have covers for the WAV's . I'm gonna stop and get some black panty hose to put over them in the next hour or so - so that I can turn the WAV's back on.

I still have a few softies sitting in the sand now but nothing was close to him. nothing could have reached. The only thing I see is that where his foot was is a tunnel under rocks through which i can see the BTA. maybe the BTA stung his foot?

it's possible and could explain why an otherwise happy Nem would walk. See if you can bury his foot in the spot he has moved to in hopes he's attached. Outside of that I would try to keep him in 150 PAR, but if he wants to go back to 100 it wouldn't shock me. Once he's been stable again for 3 days resume bi weekly feedings. I wouldn't go over 150 until he starts to color up again. I'm assuming 150 is the max he can get down on your sandbed?

PAR where he is now is no different than where he was. 100 - 180 from sand to his top

I think that's fair to say its about 100-150 on the sides of the tank. Closer to the middle of the tank its 140 on the sand to 190. would it be a bad idea to move him manually to another place and try to bury his foot a little? so that there is no chance for him to touch the BTA?

I think i'll keep an eye on him for a little bit and see if he settles on his own. I have to run off for a bit so I'll have someone keep an eye on him too. When i get back, I'll see where he is and make a decision. I definitely need to get the powerheads covered until I feel better about him sitting still.

if he's not settled when you get back, try to place him in a 150ish area, turn the powerheads off for about 30 mins, bury his foot and hope he attaches, if he does, turn the powerheads back on and see if he stays put. Also when you bury him, bury him not just in the middle of the sand, I've had best luck placing them when burying their foot under the edge of a rock, giving them the option of both glass and rock edge.
