Hi Folks,

I picked up few anemones a while back from a local reefer (as part of a trade deal). He mentioned that they were sold to him as "ASD" Rainbow and the other as "Special" Rainbow. They are both beautiful specimens...just curious as to what they might be?

Here are some pics (not the best/don't have filter lenses):

Top right is an Arizona Sunset BTA (colors are finally recovering after tank move), middle BTA is the "ASD" Rainbow, and the bottom anemone is the "Special" Rainbow.

They all look like speckled rainbows to me
ASD likes to put fancy names to make people think they are getting something special/expensive

Yeah, I have noticed that trend as well... just to get more $$ out of people. The middle one for sure is rainbow... the top one used to look like this.. then got ticked off when I moved tanks (and lost a lot of its color...it is slowly coming back).
And the bottom/largest anemone has a really cool orange/yellow tentacles with purple tips (and speckles). So I thought that one might be something different/unique..

Maybe someone else will chime in with specific names but I don’t know any that looks like bottom one

Their specific name is Entacmaea quadricolor (:
Honestly any name they're given is just for hype and for more money.

Those are very pretty. Just give them a fun name. :)

That one with orange, I have not seen. Gorgeous!

There are only a few BTAs with special names : Colorado Sunburst, Chicago Sunburst, Supernova, etc. but no rainbows have acquired this type of name. Rainbows are just far too common and multiply quickly.

I agree that the one with purple tips looks unique, but it doesn't have a "name" per se.
