Anemone not opening / extending tentacles

Hi, I am relatively new to the whole marine set up after my dad has passed on his fish tank to me! Since having the tank for the last 2 months, he had an anemone in there which would not open up and extend its tentacles. It does open for us and open its mouth although the tentacles are always retracted. Any ideas on why this may be / how to get it happy? It is a forest fire.
