Hi all! Bought two new anemones the other day. My first time owning them.

Both have moved around the tank into a space they want to be. (Il attach an image of both)

The purple tipped one doesn’t host clown fish and seems to be thriving

The reddish colour one (that can hose clownfish) looks abit odd to me with its mouth and didn’t take its food

Could anyone advise me to if this looks normal I have read that a dead anemone is bad for a tank, even though I can see it isn’t dead.

Parameters of tank are on point everything else is thriving

Thanks
Beth

Tentatively, it looks like you have an Entacmaea quadricolor/bubble-tip anemone (the reddish/greenish one) and a condylactis (purple tipped one). I say tentatively, because the photos do not show the column of the anemone and the photo of the one that looks sickly is blurred. That said, I'm pretty confident of the IDs. The condylactis looks good, but you're right, the BTA doesn't look great. It might still be adjusting to your tank since you introduced it only a few days ago.

Could you post your actual tank parameters and also lighting and water flow? My suggestion is to daily post pics on here and request suggestions. Lots of knowledgeable anemone keepers are on here. Also, until your anemones settle in, you want to be particularly careful to cover any powerheads where the anemones could get sucked in if they decide to wander around your tank.

Both species you have tend to be hardy and forgiving and tend to recover well if good quality conditions are provided.
