Well as we all know in reefing, life happens! I've had this fairly ancient 50g sca setup up previously and I think it may be here to stay! It was initially setup as a temp tank while my 120g was being resealed but I think I'm gonna keep it.... It's gonna be my budget build. Maybe go with some sps finally!

Specs:
50g SC aquariums cube 24x24x20
10g aqueon tank as sump (no chambers)
Jebao scp 70 gyre (vertical)
No name AC return pump
No name skimmer
Bubble magus filter roller (small)
Nicrew 50w reef light (need to upgrade)

Current look:

Looks great! And I won't even rat you out to the tang police... :grinning-squinting-face:
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice that :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:. They will be back in the 120g once the wall behind the aquarium is painted (few weeks at most). That disaster is in my main build thread. May leave the little sailfin in there until he grows out, may not.

Nice! Any idea on what fish you'll put in it?
Dunno yet... A pair of evil clowns to start (I'm fond of cinnamon or lightning maroons) and some more peaceful fish. May try a copperband again. I don't want to run a lid, so whatever won't jump!

Not much to report so far. Plunged on a higher wattage light since the 50w wasn't cutting it.... Was considering a kessil a360, but the price can't be beat for the smatfarm light. Figure the 24x24x20 footprint will be ok.

Need to start peroxide soaking some rock that was pulled from the 120g, figure it's gonna be used for the 50g rescape, when I get the 120g restarted (hopefully next week).

Not much to report, got the smat farm light installed. After reading reviews and etc... The light is legit for the price!! I saw a lot of complaints about the light bracket, but it worked ok for my 3/8 rimless glass.

Better shot post water change and some actual glass cleaning. My importer has a pair of pink skunks for sale, so gonna check them out tomorrow.
Outstanding— looking great. Here is my cube upgrade (36x36x24) from the 24x24x24. It’s still a WIP but the goal is to be 100% SPS (and maybe a few chalices).

I'm considering some beginner sticks...
I hear ya. My PC Rainbow, Blue Voodoo, and Cali Tort are the fastest grower in the tank — but the other sticks (Hawkins Echinata, YellowTips, etc) are taking forever to take off! I wish I have a few full colonies by next year.

How is your flow - are you happy? Will the vertically-mounted gyres be enough? I’m still not very happy with mine….

I'm Ok currently with the flow, I haven't put in anything yet. If I go all in with sps, I have a pair of mp40's sitting around along with a pair jebao slw20's. So I can get some random higher flow if necessary.

I'm also running a single vertical gyre in my 120g (softie dominated) and in happy with it.
