Crazy. I mean. I don't mine changing it out every three months it's just interesting.
It is. When I was on city water making 300g a month everything was used in pretty equal parts. I got 4 months out of both cation and anion resins probably could have gotten longer out of the cation, but I would just switch them out at the same time. Now if I made 300g I would have burned through the anion twice and cation would be untouched.

Geeze. You all make me feel spoiled. My only problem is inconsistent or low water pressure. I got a booster now and am getting 6 months out of a mixed bed canister.

The mixed bed looks fine. I'm going to wait for it to creep up more before I toss it.

When did Bulk Reef Supply get so slow on processing orders? It used to be you ordered the next two days it was shipped then two to three more days at your door. Now it's 17 days? I ordered one hanna at BRS and another on Amazon. The amazon one is here, the BRS is still processing. Oh well. It is sort of just how things are I guess. maybe the holiday.

Maybe. I have not placed an order in a while (6ish months) and received within a week.

I quit buying from there and use aquacave they ship fast
They don't carry my salt mix. However...I have thought about switching to tropic marin since Nyos is always out of stock. I was using Aqua Forest but its yellow. Really yellow.

Adding the refugium was a decent idea. Nitrates and phosphates bottomed out within the week. Dosing to 10 nitrates, and 3 Phosphates as needed. Dinos appear to be gone, but I got a zoa from Seattle that came with some really annoying algae. I remove it and it grows back overnight. It looks like Bryopsis but hasn't spread. I might have to pull that zoa and put it on a new plug. I am probably going to start filling the tank with corals after sending in another ICP test.

Dinos are back. I thought it was diatoms but tonight confirms they are back with vengeance. I just ordered a boat load of corals too. I am having a hard time keeping phosphates up. I dose, 2 hours later it reads correct, next day zero. I am able to keep nitrates up to 5-10. I might have to put the UV back on the tank. Which sort of sucks because I really can't plumb one in so this thing has to sit inside the tank. My corals are finally starting to come back from the week of lights off too. I slowly slowly raised the par on my lights. Ugh this really sucks. I just want to enjoy this tank, but it is always so disappointing to me. I might resort to chemical warfare.

That hit me hard too in the first year of operation, phosphates being low. I dosed 2 liters of neophos during that period just to keep it measurable, but it did keep the dinos away.

It's not as bad as it was by far. Tossing in 100mL of Hydrogen Peroxide and the refugium is taking off as well. I am dosing Nitrates to 10 and Phosphates to .03. I broke down and bought a Hanna checker, it seems to be inline with salifert. So I trust I'm getting an accurate reading. I did put the UV in again and everynight I am going to stir the sandbed like before. That actually helped.

What new hell is this? Can't quite tell if it's dinos again.

Trying a strategy I learned in planted tanks. A sort of "excite all the algae cells into exploding" with H2O2. 100mL of H2O2 at night before lights out, then in the morning 100mL before lights on. On top of this I am dosing 20mL of MB7. Normally I would spot treat with the H2O2 but I am broadcasting now.

In the planted tank this would eradicate almost all algae's after many days. Weakening it so much that using Flourish Excel on the last few hold outs would destroy even black beard. I have already been treating the tank off and on with the H2O2 but now I am all in. Slightly concerned with the plants in the refugium. But after two days and 400mL of H2O2 they grew? Noticed the dinos turning white in some areas. Success? One will see.

I dose 60ml of peroxide a day mainly for the ich management and with tank fallow hoping that and the algae die but I’ve been doing it for couple weeks and doesn’t seem to do much for the gha

Hopefully it will be more effective on dinos with a much much higher dosage.
