Speaking of 3d printers... finally got the parts for the kalk stirer printed out and put together. I think it turned out pretty good for a v1.5 attempt. We are headed out of town today though so it will have to wait to be put in service.

Did you build that yourself? That's sweet!

Sweet! I grabbed a Meridian 45 shallow reef myself.
Awe yeah!

Thank you! I sure did. That is what got me thinking I need a new 3d printer LOL. The threads took 10 minutes of back and forth and a little silicon grease to get them to interface without jamming up. Holidays and sick kids have delayed giving it a test run as of yet though but hope to get it wet soon!

Was a nerd and decided to do a write up on how I built it... if anyone should have that inquisitive itch...
I will add some more on the difference between the og spectrum and the 14k spectrum in a bit too. (got sick kids and the wife has decreed i have spent enough time not entertaining them for today). Spoiler, I love the 14k. It is everything I hoped it would be.

Going to build a new light mount. Pictures to come.
I picked up a Meridian 45 on the Black Friday sale for my new build!

Just got her on the stand! Tank is 48". Stand is 60" with two compartments on each end!
Glass is foggy since the tank was in the garage

oooooo I like that, that rim around the edge and extra space inside is going to be aweseome. Now the real fun can start!

And have bacon!

Ok, as promised, spectral pics!
First of all, to highlight what exactly the difference is, ReefBreeders replaced 2 of the Indigo 440nm LEDs with another 3.5k and 5.5k white one. This is ultimately the only difference between the 2. This first pic is both fixtures, each with only the 1st channel running at 100% to highlight that. 5.5k on the left and 440nm on the right. No lens filters were used on these first 2 pics.

This is with all channels at 100%. It isn't as obvious with the camera looking much bluer than it does in person, but the left side looks much whiter in person and is just that perfect daylight look.

This is what the tank looks like with all 4 fixtures running, on schedule, with a 20,000k filter. This is pretty close to what it looks like to the eye in person, just a hair bluer.

All in all, not an extreme difference, but enough that it pulls that nice daylight look and most important, makes me smile :)

OH yeah! And the additional fixture lead me to the 'group' settings in the reefbreeders app. It was super easy to get these both on the same schedule. Just added them both to the same group and applied my existing schedule to the group. Was really intuitive.

Love that light spectrum Zack, it made me smile as well!
