Thank you for the welcomes. :smile: Yep, the 75g disaster was a hard pill to swallow and totally messed up the works. Had to throw the live rock etc... into our two QT tanks we had set up and then use that water, live rock etc.... to try and make an easy transition for the two fish that came with the 125. Didn't want to put them through an "all new" cycle but we still got hosed in the long run. Now the hippo has a light case of Ich and our QT tanks are newer than the 125g water etc... Just can't win - we're off to a bad start both with the tank and with a few members in asking for advice on the Ich it seems.

Think we'll just go back to reading on the boards for now. :crossedlips:

Don't get discouraged by a few impatient responses. We were all new at some point and asking questions is the best way to learn. Asking questions is the only way to get a response tailored to your individual system & situation. That being said....fire away with the questions!

Thanks Swanny, all in all the majority of contact we have had on the forum here has been great. Patience is something that this hobby requires thats for sure.

We have been checking the params. daily and they haven't moved other than having to add a bit of calcium. Been two weeks so I'm hoping that we're just going to get a gradual change rather than a large ammonia spike or something equally as bad.

A few more pics - I think we're looking good on our live rock colors? Added a cleanup crew a couple days ago consisting of two cleaner shrimp, some ceriths etc... and three turbo snails. The acro & scoly were a gift from my brother, he isn't familiar at all with saltwater and bought them because he liked the look. He didn't realize they should go into a very established tank NOT a brand new one with clueless owners. Here they are though, we're reading up on them and hoping we can somehow manage to get them to survive.

Thank you Rev, I've actually not been offended or had someone post something offensive but it is good to know there is a way to report it if it happens. Was nothing more than impatience I think with us being new along with the post being turned into somewhat of a debate over different ways to handle the situation. It happens, just wish the debate had been taken to another post rather than while I needed the help and needed a few questions answered. Never did get my main question answered. lol Thank you though :smile:

Skinz - The question was basically, since the hippo has a slight case of Ich and is in a tank that is basically "older" than our QT tanks is it really a good idea to move her since the QT tanks params. are bouncing so badly in comparison? To me, common sense would seem to suggest that shes better off where she is however, lowering the salinity in that tank isn't an option. I had decided to wait it out and let the hippo dictate how it would play out / if she got worse I'd be forced to move her regardless and if she didn't I'd leave her be until I could move her to an at least half stable QT tank and then start lowering the salinity. Are we thinking correctly or as is the case with some intricate things common sense doesn't always play out as it typically would?

The 75 busting a seam really did a number on our plans. This wasn't how we had planned to proceed and we certainly wouldn't have planned to have fish in the new tank until it had fully cycled but it is what it is and now we have to try and make it work.

I would leave the Tang where it is and try soaking the food you feed in a little bit of garlic oil. Seems every time I have a fish with Ich this is all I do and in most cases the Ich go's away.

Hi Tina, we were certainly in the same boat.... the years of raising cichlids etc... just never did cut it. We're really enjoying this and every day we practically run to the tank to see whats new! lol Looking forward to hearing more about yours as well. :smile:

Here too! Even a small featherduster is cause for celebration! Oh--and when we had a recent power outage I was taking water from the sump so it wouldn't overflow and found two serpent stars in there I had NO idea were in there! I about jumped through the roof! Running to the tank every day? I TOTALLY get it!
