This is my first documented build attempt.
I purchased this 144 for 400 bucks. Included the stand, but the mda was wet and blowing out. The tank was used as a fresh water display, and is in great shape except for the glass on the inside is scratched from top to bottom.
luckily for me, I do glass scratch removal for a living! . this is a pic of the tank on its face getting sanded with 180 grit.
I have another 144 up and running, and the stand is starting to go. I’m going to take advantage of having 2, so I will be able to take my time , make this one perfect, and build a stand made of maple I think.
Any suggestions on the stand material are welcome.
I love these tanks.
The dog is my best friend on the planet. His name is Bear.

It’s been since March that I have posted. All the sanding and polishing is done, it came out beautifully. The stand will be ready Dec. 18th. Very excited.
went with 2 G5 lights. I am now starting the aquascape. I’m starting with a 70 pound shelf rock as my base. I’m breaking it into 3. I want a center scape for flow around the back, with an arch or two. I’ll hold it together with acrylic rods.
I painted the back black on this one.

What’s your sanding process? I’ve gotten rid of a few of the half circle and Bowfront tanks due to scratches and would love some advice on the process

I don’t recommend trying it. Especially on a curved tank. Many years of experience is a must. I’ve tried to train people, and distorting the glass is always a problem the first year. Heat must be monitored, feathering is a must, constant movement, start and stop on the glass not before or after.....so many nuances. If you need one done, let me know.

The board is under way. Ordered the battery back up this morning. 72 inches x 30 3/4. It’s going in the wall. I have to widen the wall with 2x8’s to make room for the 6 inch thick dos pumps and alk/calc container

I have a 144 also that is currently sitting in my garage waiting on me to get all the equipment together.

I am down to just needing powerheads and the return pump.

I have loved this stile and size tank since I first saw it at a good friends house.

I will be following along for ideas on mine as I watch your build.

What return pump and powerheads are you using?

2 COR 20’s. One direct to the right overflow, and one for the manifold.
I will run 3 MP40’s One will be in the center
