Hi All!

I have a mixed reef 120.

Was hoping to add a purple tang to an established tank (I read it may not be a good idea). Have I already maxed out on my stocking? Do I have room for more?

In my 120 I have the following:

Powder Brown Tang
Hippo Tang
2 x Ocellaris Clownfish
Foxface Rabbitfish
Goby (I hardly every see) paired with a Pistol Shrimp
4 x Green Chromis
lg. Brittle Star (hardly see him)

Misc Snails, 2 x Counch, hermit crabs.

You may or may not be able to add a purple tang. Powder brown tangs can be pretty aggressive to new tangs. Maybe try using a social acclimation box to introduce the purple tang and see how bad the aggression is. If it's too bad to release it then one can be rehomed.

The PBT is definitely the king of the tank. He gave the Rabbit Fish lots of grief initially but all is well with them now.

If the purple tang is bigger than the other fish that are already in the tank I'd give it a try. But if not, I would be very worried about adding it. Prepare for the worst.
