My Anthias mouth has been open. Separated from all fish in Qt so no rough housing caused it. Started treating with sulfaplex and neoplex. I do have kanaplex and metroplex would that be better? Or am I going the wrong route thinking it's bacteria infection?

The few times I've seen this I thought it stemmed from mechanical trauma - one time, I saw it actually happen in a basslet that slammed some food, but hit the side of the tank and its mouth got stuck open. With that fish, I sort of worked the jaw back into place and it improved, but never got completely better.

I don't know of any infectious disease that would cause this.....

beautiful borbonious !!
To chime in, ive seen this about 4 times. One ended up being fatal , and as Jay mentioned, it can retract in which Ive seen happen. most fish have two sets of jaws with the outer part being the mouth itself which holds food and an inner one used for chewing food called a pharyngeal jaw. When this releases, so does the mouth.

So the mouth gradually began to gape over a week? I’ve never seen that before so can’t explain it. In the few cases I’ve seen showed up all at once.
