I have a male Squareback Anthias and have been told they do much better with a group of females with him. Would I need to get the same species of Anthias or could I get species? Not a big fan of the look of the female Squareback's

I've seen a number of people keeping squareback/squarespot solo, as long as it's eating and out and active it should be fine.

Adding other species will probably not do much for it, one will turn male and be in charge of that species.

Squarespots get kinda big, and they are deeper water anthia that seem to do better in lower light tanks or their colors can fade just FYI

That is what I suspected. Thanks!

I agree. When I’ve kept a male square it was solo. A rather twitchy anthias so probably best that way.
