Anthias Suggestions?

Hello! I have a 200 gallon tank and would like to add 8 Anthias. Does anyone have any suggestions in regards to which Anthias to try?

I only have a 65g DT so I have just one but the contrast with the deep blue springerie damsel is awesome.

I’m loving my lyretail group. I wish I could’ve gotten more of them but I have 3.

I think it depends on your planned tank mates—If you are looking at semi aggressive or peaceful.

Lyres will pick at each other.

Carberryi's are fairly peaceful, as they are not even psudanthias.
Randalls, would hide all the time, but i didn't have long with them, as they all died from URO in my QT, but i would love a group of randalls again.

Disbar's are also i hear fairly peaceful and hardy.

I have a group of 4 lyres, and 3 Cariberryi's

If you like that purple eyeliner, the Carberryi's have them too, and was able to transition for flakes fairly easy.
Although it took them watching the lyres do it a couple of times to realize it was food.

As for getting to eat non frozen, i think lyres will adapt to flake / pellets fast.
Carberryi's took a week after the lyres started, and now they patrol the feeding ring i have whenever they hear the autofeeder go off.

But i would definitely put Carberryi on your list as you can mix them with lyres, and the Carberryi is slowly starting to be my favorate.

Also i don't know if its a urban legend, or if its just a given, but you always want an odd number or even better i hear a prime number of anthias.

So like 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 - 11


Also whatever you do, ABSOLUTELY QT them for URO.
Once u introduce URO in your tank, its done forever with Anthias and Chromis, as there is no FALLOW for URO.

So you want to make sure you NEVER introduce that.

They have the eyeliner like lyres..

The top again Cariberryi's and bottom lyres...
Carberryi's are a bit more pink... while lyres are more orange... These are females of course... male lyres are actually extremely flashy...

My Anthias mostly stick together...

I just added 5 each of Purple Queen and Ignitus Anthias. Bought from Dr reef and all seem to be doing great. Ordered in January and just got them a week ago fully QT'd

Yikes.... purple queens... they are so pretty, but i hear the difficulty on them is off the roof.

I'm a big fan of (in order)
Bartlett's Anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum)
Tiger Anthias (Pseudanthias lori)
Randall's Anthias (Pseudanthias randalli)
Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis)
Stocky Anthias (Pseudanthias hypseloma)
Red Belted Anthias (Pseudanthias rubrizonatus)

All of those are pretty hardy, bartlettorum, rubrizonatus, hypseloma, and squamipinnis are a little more aggressive if you are going with rougher tankmates.

And all would mix well with another awesome anthias, that behaves more like big gramma, the fathead anthias (Serranocirrhitus latus).

Carberryi, Randals, Dispars, Ignitus these don't seem to pick each other off unless you got more then one male. Evansi also, but these guys are a bit difficult from what im hearing.

You can also add a single Fathead or blotched to your group.
They kinda act like that granny that sits out on the front yard and keeps an eye on the neighborhood.

I sort of want to get a single sunburst fathead, but i think im done on anthias, as 7 in a 150gal, is probably already pushing it.

Lyretails and dispar are my easiest and most active

I had 4 now 3 lyertail for over 4 years and just added 6 dispair and they are beautiful. I would agree with the sentiment these are very hardy.
