Good afternoon, everyone,

Does anyone know if the Red (anti lime bypass hose) is required on pumps that are inside the sump? The pump in question is a red dragon 3.

Thanks

David

That is used for cooling and flushing the rotor of the motor. I wouldn't remove it. If it is already missing or damaged than you could replace it with any appropriately sized reef safe tubing.

The fitting broke off from the back of the pump. I have purchased a new fitting and hopefully an easy out will extract the piece of the fitting inside the housing

Plan "B" is to drill out the housing and epoxy in a threaded plug. Option "C" is stupid expensive - buying a new housing. That will suck

I finally received the John Guest 8mm fittings. Per the instructions from Royal Exclusiv I will be gluing it in. Anyone need any John Guest fittings?

The fitting above is actually wrong. The PM0308E is correct and needs to be used with an 8mm PVC tube that is glued into the back of the pump.

Coming out of the back of my pump body is supposed to an 8mm PVC tube. I decided to upgrade to a titanium tube instead. Hopefully stronger than the PVC. Next, I will trim to 35mm and glue into the pump.

Cut to length and superglued in place. Tomorrow I will test. Fingers crossed.

Its alive. If anyone ever breaks off the lime bypass off the back of their Red Dragon LMK and I can help with the repairs.
