It looks like the new kid on the block of controllers. Does anyone have experience on the forum as beta testers. They are coming out this summer, and as I'm setting up my new tank, I wonder if I should wait for them or get an Apex.
They are being marketed as the Mac, rather than the PC of controllers. The users have less minute control, but they are more integrated and easier to us.

i feel like we can use a "Mac" in this hobby everything needs to be "programmed" all i want to do is push a button and make it work. not to mention my Apex PM2 module gave out on me and my chiller ran for half a day because the temp read 484 degrees! I am tired of being trapped in the developers cookie-cutter idea of what a controller should be. bottom line, is it should be EASY, that's it.

My point exactly Sheldon. I have enough in this hobby to do and enjoy without having to learn how to code an apex. I already don't have enough hair to pull out trying to get an electronic box to work.

For me I enjoy programming an apex. I love the flexibility and it allows me to do some pretty neat things. The coding involved is pretty simplistic in my opinion. It pretty much programs the way you want to talk. If this is like this then do this. But to each their own!

Here is something you should read regarding the methodology of IoT and aquarium control - it applies to the FishBit. It is very informative in helping to understand how cloud-only controlled devices work and the risks associated with them. I also wrote a comment at the bottom of the article that helps with further clarification on the subject and where the Apex fits in all of it.

I'm a beta tester. I don't have an Apex or Mac; I am more of a Reefkeeper and PC guy. I would be glad to answer any specific questions based on my experience. My Fishbit Beta was very easy to set up, and the app is very intuitive. The beta version monitors a few basic parameters and can turn things on and off. This can be done manually or automatically on a timer or in reaction to one of the measured parameters. The app has several other nice features like the ability to set up reminders and keep track of livestock. I use the app to log other water parameters like alk, Cal, nitrates. The version coming out in a few months will do a lot more than the beta and I would expect over time that it will be enhanced with many new features and more control options.

I have a Beta unit, that they were kind enough to let me test out, that is going strong.

I had a minor issue getting it set up due to a router problem. Once that was resolved, there haven't been any problems at all. Set up took about 15 minutes.

Following, I'm trying to update my RKL(not a fan) and was thinking about fishbit. Any insight into the ATO on the higher end model?

from what Nathan has told me, it can be extended to your sump if you have the monitor in your tank.

I emailed them the same question and he provided some recommendations. Sounds really simple to set up and maintain. Can't wait till August!
