Ok I bought a jeabo 1200 DC and planned on running it externally but have read that they r not really designed to run externally and the last thing I need is 50 gal of salt water on my rug!

Are there any DC pumps specifically designed to be run externally?

Or should I just go for a dart gold pump my local Fourm has a used one for $100

The issue with running them externally is heat. They aren't sitting in the water to dissipate the motor's heat, and may fail prematurely. If you don't have them all kinds of enclosed, then you'll be fine, but if your sump area is not ventilated, you may want to consider using a small computer fan and a 12v molex adapter to power it, or some sort of other small fan for active cooling. Keep them nice and chilly and they'll last a long time.

I'm looking for one designed to be run externally only the diablos I thought I read say do not run externally?

I believe the red dragon DC pumps are biult for external use, but they were like $500+ last I saw.
