judging by the print on the board. c47 the c stands for capacitor. But i have never seen one like that before???

if its a cap it should have the microfarad and voltage on it...

It's hard to tell from the picture. But it looks like an inductor. Most of the time the are used in conjunction with a capacitor to create a filter.

It's a Y2. so thats a Crystal or Oscillator.. ok.

The board is actually an old Apex lite I have. The ethernet port is not working so I figured I would open it up and see if any thing stood out. This is a picture of a good one. My Y2 looks crusty, like it got fried, so I was thinking it could be the culprit.

You will need to get the Temp up to 88 Jigawatts before replacing that Thingamajig too or it will self destruct, Be very careful....
