I just got an Engineer Goby last weekend. I've always wanted one because they remind me of an eel. Mine is a little guy that's about 4" in length. It's just starting to switch from it's juvenile colors to some more mature colors. Anyone on here have experience with them? It ate like a pig right after I put it in the tank, but I've only scene it once in the past few days. I was able to snap a quick pic, but it never stops moving so its a crappy one. Thanks for the input.

This was one of the first fish I owned about 10 years ago. He disappeared in my tank. I thought he had been eaten or otherwise vanished. He reappeared about 10 months later when I took the tank down...

This was the first fish I bought when I started my tank back on 2007. He was the smallest, most innocent little fish. Then he started to grow...and grow...and dig...and dig. He toppled my aquascape so many times from burrowing under the base rock that I finally had to get rid of him. I think I had him for about 2 years before i had enough. He was a neat fish but stayed hidden in the rockwork most of the time. Hopefully you have better luck with yours than I had with mine. Here he is when I first got him:

And here he is after I banished him to my 40 breeder in the basement:

I'd like to get another one to have a pair. They just look so cool to me. I've ready that can be quite the PITA with rock slides and whatnot. I'm going to be rearranging my tank soon and will be putting the rocks on top of eggcrate and cementing them together. I'm hoping that will stop them from sliding around.

Great fish that gets HUGE. +1 cool in pairs. Just make sure your rock is secure and he shouldn't cause any problems.
