Any Freshwater forums?

Hey guys

My little cousin is finally growing up and heading off to college and he won't be able take care of his 30 gallon FW tank anymore and asked me if I could take it from him. I plan on just taking care of the tank and giving it back to him once he's ready for it but in the mean time I wanted to make sure I take good care of it.

I was wondering if there were any freshwater forums like reef2reef where I could go for advice and any questions I have?

I'm still a reef boy. Just doing this for my cousin so he has some peace of mind about his animals.

Ironic you should mention this. I am in the same position. My R2R moniker reflects my acquiring my son's college tanks due to college COVID rules.

I'd be glad to discuss any freshwater questions with you. He has one "freshwater."

It really depends on what kind of tank it is. Is it a community tank, planted tank, african cichlid tank... You really don't have all the parameters to worry about like saltwater but you do have a few. PH range is important and unlike saltwater, depending on the type of fish you are keeping it can be different. Discus for instant want a low ph and african chchlids like a high ph. Some fish also like a higher temp say around 80 or over. I have had a freshwater tank since the 70's so I can help with some questions. I've always been a community fish tank guy so I won't know the answered if it is specialized. From what I've seen with planted tanks, they can get as complicated and as time consuming as saltwater. And contrary to popular belief, freshwater can be very expensive.
