All FW forums I signed up on is incredibly slow with lack of replies, and I am hoping someone here can help me out a bit since I'm starting up a FW planted tank.

I saw this image and I absolutely love it, and I want to try to replicate this using dragon rocks as well.

Anyone know what plants are used in here? Looks like some are moss of some kind, but I'm not sure. I want to get the lighting that would cater to this type of scape. I never realized plants are like corals, they need certain lighting, substrate, etc, lol. Now I'll have to spend time researching to make sure I get the right plants and set up.

Please and thank you

Unfortunately from that picture it is tough to tell exactly what is being used. Kind of looks like Christmas Moss......the red looks like Rotala maybe? The dragon rock is nice.....I actually just set up a Betta tank using nothing but that rock.

Here is a pic of my high tech setup.....

@Waters Thanks! I thought it might be moss of kind. And your tanks are beautiful! I love them! What light are you using on the larger tank?

The FW forums are dead, lol maybe I can pick your brain?

I am looking at CO2 regulators. Any suggestions which ones would be good for a 20g that wouldn't break the bank? I'm looking at less than $100 if possible.

btw, I scaped my tank using dragon rocks. What do you think?

The larger tank used two Finnex Stingrays. I tried Finnex 24X7s but they weren't strong enough for the hairgrass. Your tank looks really good.....love the layout with the DragonRock. Are you using any ferts/root tabs since you have inert sand? As far as the CO2, I bought all of my stuff from www.greenleafaquariums.com with the exception of the canister which I just picked up from a beverage supply company. Your tank is small enough that you can probably get by with something much simplier (and less expensive). Unfortuantely that is the only high tech tank I have ever set up so I don't have any experience with anything other than the GreenLeaf stuff.

No root tabs yet, but I did pick up 2 ferts. Florish Excel and something else by the same brand I can't think of on top of my head (I want to say Trace, but not sure). There's so many to chose from, I have no idea.

I was looking at the Finnex lights. I might go for that one. but for now I adjusted my AI prime to full white and a lot of red, and all other colors down (okay, a little green for asthetics). I hope it works out okay, if not I'll try to sell it and put the money towards a FW plant light.

thanks for the link to the CO2! I will take a look and get some ideas at least

Yeah, it was probably Excel (macros) and Trace (trace elements). Both work ok for smaller tanks.....anything heavily planted or larger, and you will probably want to switch to mixing your own like these https://greenleafaquariums.com/products/pps-pro-aquarium-fertilizer-package-bags.html
I don't see why your AI prime wouldn't work (although they do sell one specifically for freshwater if I remember correctly?)

Oh, mixing my own fert solution might be ideal. I'll be saving that page, I'll use what I have for now before purchasing more items :D they do have a lot of stuff on that website, I'm sure they'll be taking my money, lol.

they do make AI Prime for FW. I figure I'll try the current one for a while first before going crazy
