Any idea why my DI resin looks like a barber poll?

Hi,
So repeatable on to a second set of resin as I use my RO the DI is used up but ends up like this...

The spiral works it's way to the top and then it is blue again underneath.

0 TDS.

Why is it working like this?

Are you able to squeeze the cartridge? If it's not packed tight enough I believe you can see it separate out like that.

Looks like mixed bed?
Hitting Cation and burning up Anion as it cleans the water.
Id run a Cation,Anion and then mixed bed probably save alot on Cation side of things.

Since the last one (the one that came with the RO) did the same thing I tamped the resin down pretty good with a container. It is pretty solid

Right on yeah thats just how it works with mix beds. Its easier to see when you have a can of Cation and then Anion. The Anion burns alot quicker.

The blue reappearing underneath is normal?

Yes depending how you refilled cartridge.
And like said earlier by other poster. If you get channeling around Cation or vice versa the resin will follow path.
