i have my own garden! It is a pain sometimes, but overall i love it. I got some harvest already, and this year i tried growing some more "unique" plants, such as white tomatos, rainbow tomatos, okra, dragon beans, etc. Indoors i grow a lot as well, i am currently growing anthurium flowers, passion fruit, papaya trees, plumeria flowers, hibiscus, aloe vera, many succulents, many cactuses, orchids, and much much more!

beautiful plants. Do you have staff that waters the plants every day, or do you have a auto waterer.Just wondering how many reef keepers also garden? Seem like similar hobbies to me, anyone got pics of their garden to share? Attached some pics of my work.

I love gardening. I built two raised beds in my yard and am enjoying them a lot. When I was growing up in the country we always had a huge garden. This is smaller than I would like but it's what I got for now :)

That would be amazing I wish I owned my own nursery wouldn't even mind working seven days a week if my reef was at work (and my reptiles)! Must be rewarding owning a business that makes people and the environment both happy :).

Thanks and yes we have sprinklers that run at night and an employee comes in before opening to water the plants the sprinkler doesn't hit (which is alot what a waste of water overhead irrigation sucks).

Absolutely beautiful! I always wanted to try growing orchids now that they are becoming more common in nurseries and stores...are they picky in terms of humidity? I live in a pretty dry desert climate...

I grew up surrounded by gardens. I taught soil science. Alas, for all of the dirt that I have accumulated under my nails ... I remain an interior designer. Landscape design and keeping plants alive and well are not my God given talent. You got a green thumb ... mine is more yellowish -brown.

Thank You. Just like my tank, they are a labor of love.
They do like slightly high humidity being tropical, around 60%. I run a humidifier for mine and they respond well. They also like some air movement and lower nighttime temps compared to daytime temp. I run fans near them at night.

I always have like 6 month life span of orchards before I kill them.My orchid collection.

Veggie gardens.
North east hill with tomatoes, acorn squash, cukes and hostas. First time trying tomatoes in this spot and they are doing better than the yard garden plants.
Yard garden. Zuchinni, yellow squash, brussel sprouts, broccoli, tomatoes.

The last time I built a garden with that fencing, my basset hound waited for everything to ripen and then busted in. In one afternoon, she ate three watermelons, countless tomatoes, squash, decimated corn stalks and gobbled a half dozen or so cantaloupe. There was nothing left to save. She pulled plants out of the ground. All I had left was mush. To that point, it was the most successful garden I had ever planted. It was also the last one.Veggie gardens.

I do bonsai or I should say sticks in pots currently. Learning to keep trees happy in a pot is quite the challenge. A bonsai expert once said keeping bonsai is 90% watering and 10% art. It's true. lol

It is indeed incredibly rewarding and helping the planet is a huge part of it for us. We have been really poorly treated in the past by employers and another large part of having the centre (Eden) is having a safe and pleasant environment for all of our staff. Very important to us that all staff go home happy.

That's amazing! I'm assuming you've been practicing bonsai for years to have that many? I'm an absolute beginner but I have a few Japanese maple Ive started to train. Any tips for someone new to bonsai?

I did bonsai back when I was a teenager and got away from the hobby. I've been back at it since 2013.
Most of my trees are seedlings. I like to collect rare stuff to see if I can grow it. I have yet to wire anything. The past three years I have been refining my soil media for my climate so itll be at least 1-3 years before I do any serious work. Working on trees that are not 100% healthy usually kills them.
Not a member but I lurk on bonsainut for info and get most of my supplies from Superflybonsai and American Bonsai Company.
Best advice I can give is be patient and read every book on bonsai you can find. Its a lifelong hobby that requires planning that spans years.
