I do not use this light, but I did test one out for a few months over a frag tank. ...so take this for what it is worth with this caveat. Also, I am only into Acropora and not any "weed" type of SPS that anybody can grow. ...so I am a picky user without long term experience, so free bump if you want to ignore all of this.

For me, this would be the only LED that I would consider if somebody made me use one. It was still nowhere near what my MH can do in terms of growth and color for my acropora, but it was better than the Radions, Mitras and Photons that I have tried lately - the easier stuff all seemed about the same, but there were difference with the millepora, deepwaters, plana, and many other corals.

I really like that they have true UV and also IR since I believe in the Emerson Effect and seen it at work in other light types.

I did not do much with the electronics, so I have no opinions about this. I am never around to see the dimming and any of that stuff, so I care purely about performance.

I doubt that you will see many hard-core SPS tanks using them since they are fairly new to the US... it will take a few more generations to really have a bunch (think of all the tanks with Gen2 Radions that now have Gen4s). The reviews of the people who just got them is going to be all that you might get for now - you could try some EU forums and translate them from German. I have seen a few tanks that have V4 over them right now, but they did not grow under those lights.

Anyway, free bump.

Dang man! You know some people think Acropora are not interesting and might as well put fluorescent plastic rods in a tank! lol

Anywho I have been impressed with this light over my tank, but I have not had the light long enough to really grow large colonies aka years like Jda said. However they have been growing acros, weeds, and clams without issues for several months now.

I totally know. ...and I also know that what I like is not for everybody. This is why I like to offer the disclaimer so that people know how to understand it.

I try stuff out because if it ever does get better, then I want to use it. I also want to be prepared just in case there is ever a real ban on any of the things that I use today, or if I ever had to have a tank in a part of the world where electricity or laws made it impossible to do what I do now. The Atlantik V2 would be my choice right now if I could not use what I use currently.
