Noticed something blue in a crack on one of my coral frags I just got. I did dip the coral before adding it to my tank but didn't notice this for a few days. Also can someone give me the name/variant of this coral, I had it but forgot to write it down on my list.

Oh bot that could be a lot of things....

From this angle it is hard to see very well. Perhaps if you pulled the frag out and got a closer picture some one would be able to see it better to identify.

I'll try and pull it and get a better picture tonight when I get home. Not sure it's bubble algae, it retreats when disturbed but maybe.

Ya if it retreats at all then not bubble algae. It just kind of looks like it in pic and there is a piece that definetely looks like ot to the left of what you have circled so that was my best guess

@mdb_talon you were right about the bubble algae, it has been scrubbed (hopefully got it all). @MERKEY Here are some hopefully better pictures. I also found another one near the original that I took a pic of. these are about as close as my camera will focus, the opening is just a little bit bigger than the tip of a bamboo skewer.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Its a bi-valve often found on zoa and softie rocks

Looks to be a type of bivalve.

Was told it was a coral barnacle (pyrgoma sp.), Google images returns similar.
I would agree. We are probably calling a lot of bivalves wrong and should be called barnacles. They do look very similar
