Anyone else into Toyota 4runners?

Hey not that I needed another expensive hobby I have too many.lol but

I have a 2002 4runner that I have had a 3inch lift installed,new clear corner lights,satoshi grille,windows tinted,taco whip,rci skid plate,and a huge lost of things to come lol.

1993 Costa Mesa, Ca. TRD, had a building to build Indy racing engines, two dynos. I repaired and maintained a million dollar a/c system that simulate road conditions when testing engines. Paul Newman would come in from time to time. Very wild. If I remember one engine was reved 21,000 rpms, see what would happen. Held up.

That’s awesome!! And that’s an insane amount of rpms on a motor lol I can’t believe it held up after that

Big fan of 4Runners and Tacomas, especially the early 2000's vintage. My in-laws have about 4 of them. My father in law welds up the chassis that have a tendency to crack on that vintage. In the past he was buying them for like $2,000, welding them up and re-selling them for close to $5,000. Too bad that batch seems to have all either been junked or fixed. Was looking for one to buy for my wife a few months ago and couldn't find any good deals.

Also, sadly, I think the newer ones look like a cross between an armored troop transport and a Hummer H3...they've just gotten too big and angular.

Yours has that pretty rounded look of the early 2000's. Love it!

2011 here. I haven't really done anything to it because of bills. I have Thule crossbars and cargo box, as well as Airlift airbags for keeping me level on vacations. The future includes skidplating, bumpers, rock rails, and a winch. I'll also toss on a suspension to keep me at stock height so I can still fit in parking garages.

Gotta go because I'm in the middle of replacing my parking brakes. My rotors were trashed and pulling them revealed that the guts of the parking brake had spilled out. My advice: 4R parking brakes are terrible to work on. There is a roughly 1/2" hole through the wheel flange for access to work on the drum brake components.
