Here's my glasswares cabinet in my shop. I cut down the walnut and maple. Happened to find this incredible quilting in the maple.
Brusso brass 105° hinges. Piston fit drawers.

We used to get a lot of tiger maple in the cabinet shops- if the sets were stained we usually were told to scrap it because of the variation in the wood grain. Most customers don’t want a patch of stripes in the middle of a cabinet face when it doesn’t match the rest of the set. It’s gorgeous. We used some it to make guitar stands for friends and my dad. Bonus pecky cypress.

@Smirkish I found the same thing. Clients want homogeneous grain. Which meant we often got to cherry pick the stacks.

Great execution. Was your initial glue up made up of scrap pieces?

I've done end green cutting boards for mass Christmas gifts up a few times and turned around and made a few of these chaotic grain boards after the fact. It always amazes me how much loss of material on these guys. Here's a few of mine though set out at a holiday boutique.

Looks great! I'm making up an end-grain board today as a matter of fact. I've never tried using small random pieces as you have here. I might just give that a try.

Most people don't realize just how long something like that takes or the waste wood.

I like to have a few end grain cutting boards around for a quick gift too. I've never tried selling them, but maybe I should give it a thought.

I make cribbage boards with a dovetail slot cut into one end. I like having storage for the pegs. I make the pegs too.......

I have one more project I completed for our Fire Department, new kitchen cabinets. The upper cabinets are very tall approximately 43 inches. I was worried about warping but they've been in place for about 5 years now with no movement.

We got all the lumber in the rough. I milled every single board. Joined, planed, etc.

I have a 650 CFM dust collector with a cyclonish separator in a Rubbermaid trash can. I might need to upgrade to a bigger dust collector to take full advantage of the overhead dust collector arm thing.

I thought about going with a Laguna but I read a comment on a YouTube video of some who decided to save the $1000 and was ok with it until a couple years later when he had $30k in medical bills to reattach his finger and he wished he had not cheaped out, plus my wife was all for it for the safety reasons.

I can confirm that it is definitely cheaper to get the Sawstop before the need for medical treatment.
